Pity for a Dime

A court is in session a verdict is in
No appeal on the docket today, just my own sin
The walls are cold and pale the cage made of steel
Screams fill the room alone I drop and kneel
Silence now the sound my breath the only motion around
Demons cluttering around my face showing no emotion
Shackled by my sentence expecting no return
Here there is no penance my skin begins to burn

(chorus)
So I held my head up high hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels there selfish pride
We’re all held captive out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one

I hear a thunder in the distance see a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given on that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness only he holds the key
A light to free me from my burden and grant me life eternally
Should have been dead on a sunday morning banging my head
No time for mourning ain’t got no time

(chorus)

I cry out to God seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I’ve created my own prison

So I don't listen to Creed enough. That's My Own Prison, by Creed, which isn't the title of the post. Dunno, I figured the next song on the CD (Pity for a Dime) seemed more sexy.

Well, dunno what to write about. Last night I spent the night at DJ's, we hung out, watched some TV, stuff like that. Tonight I'm spending the night in Evanston, gonna hang out with my brothers at Dave's apartment. Bleerrrg.

I was in a mood to write more earlier, but then my brother just called and we chatted for a bit, and my mom called and we chatted for a bit... now I feel like playing Midtown Madness II. So, I shall write more late.

PSST, check out brio for some pimp christmas tree pictures.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.
- Dave Barry

I must say, I now have a bigger appreciation for someone. Eeek, and they know who they are. God damn it's late already. Maybe I'll get time to actually post some stuff someday.

Fire

So Kane made a really... deep? comment today in class and it made me think. Here it is summarized: When comparing life to fire, they are both very alike; the only possible way for fire to exist is to destroy itself. Without destroying itself, fire cannot be fire.

Think about it.

A big load of crap [EXTENDED VERSION]

So, I had the "Moses supposes" rhyme running through my head for hours, and I decided to research online and see if I could get a recording really quick... so I happened upon an amazon.com page labeled Singin' in the Rain (1952 Film Soundtrack) (Deluxe Edition) [ENHANCED] [ORIGINAL RECORDING REISSUED] [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] [SOUNDTRACK] [SPECIAL EDITION] [EXTRA TRACKS]. What the hell is up with that? (here is the page).

Not enough time to get into anything else really... that's it for now.

Dear Birthparent,

We are Terry and Dan. Yes, we are both men, and we would like to adopt your baby! If you have a problem with homosexuality, please know that we have a problem with teenagers who go out, get themselves knocked up, and then think they can sit in judgment over others. We have been with each other for three months. We hope to adopt a baby son, as gay relationships don't usually last longer than six or seven months.

We are both atheists.

Dan is an overworked, undersexed sex-advice columnist. He is writing a book about adopting a baby, but we promise we're not doing this just for the fourteen-figure advance. Dan is fifty-nine years old, has heart trouble, smokes three packs a day, and will be the sole means of support for our little family.

Terry is seventeen years old and emulates Martha Stewart in every possible way, including Martha's emotional distance and passive-aggressiveness. After the baby comes, he plans on working a few hours a week in a bookstore that sells a great deal of homosexual pornography.

We live in a cramped apartment filled with dangerous and sharp-edged tchotchkes perched high atop unstable shelving units purchased at an Ikea seconds sale. We have a funky Brady basement, and a killer sound system that will blow our baby's head off if we're not careful! In our kitchen, Terry bakes pies and cookies in effort to make Dan so fat that no other gay man will want him.

Our home is near a large park frequented by homosexuals in search of anonymous sexual encounters. There our child will enjoy many hours of unsupervised play. Most of our friends are in the music industry and addicted to hard drugs. They are all very excited about baby-sitting! As most of them use only heroin and not dangerous hallucinogenics, the odds that one of them will pop the baby into the microwave are pretty low.

Dan will be too busy to say hello to the baby until he is old enough to fetch his morning New York Times. Terry will be the primary caregiver, and not letting the baby die will be Terry's top priority! Allowing the baby to die would reflect badly on gay men everywhere, including those gay men in the park having anonymous sex, and would harm the sales of Dan's book. Especially if the baby died during the book tour.

We are looking forward to becoming parents, though we don't like the idea of changing diapers. We welcome frequent visits, so maybe you could come over and change the baby's diapers. We hope to provide a home full of love where a child can grow and thrive in an atmosphere of wonder, stability, and respect, but we know this probably won't happen.
Dan & Terry

Haha, so that's from "The Kid" which is a story about a gay guy who adopted a baby with his boyfriend. I think it's possibly the most humerious letter ever, they were trying to write a letter to the birthparents convincing them to give the baby to the couple... but they couldn't think of anything, so they wrote an anti-convincing letter. Pretty good.

First snow flurries today! Woot.

A Movie Script Ending

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.
- Ellen Goodman

So, today in AAT, Mr. Kohne asked everyone about Thanksgiving, and if anyone really liked the dark meat. I apparently was the only person in the whole class that liked the dark meat, and so, he responds with, "Andrew, you just have to be different, don't you." Hehe, yes. I do, and that's why I'm turning around infront of the mirror right now and checking if that smiley face that John drew on my lower-lower back is still there. Yes, yes it is.

Today seemed to go really long, and I think it has something to do with the excessivly dreary weather outside. It's god aweful. I was discussing with Dan about how it inspires people to kill people. Which reminds me of History class when we were talking about death by the electric chair. I don't know about you people, but it seems to me that the electric chair is an incredibly inhumane way to kill someone. Think about it, when you get shocked it's an incredibly painful experience. I think that if anyone who's been killed in the electric chair were alive today, they'd be pushing legislature to get it banned across America.

So enough of that. I think I'm going to start another Blogger today just for pictures, because I don't really want to be posting the pictures that I take for hobby here, only pictures related to posts. Speaking of that, actually, the picture below this post is one from the homeless sleepout... But yeah, that was so last post.

Leave it all

Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence.
- HL Mencken

So last night was the homeless sleep out in the St. Scholastica parking lot. It was pretty much amazing, I raised $100 and so did most of the people there (around 20-30 people) so I'd say it was a success. Plus, I had an amazing box covered in plastic so I stayed dry throughout the night when the rain started and everything. I shared mine with Jenny, and we didn't make purple. I have a few pictures, I'll put them up in the next couple days.

So, related to that, I think that I'll be starting a photoblog sometime soon... photography has always been my hobby and I think that I should really start posting some pictures up on the web; but I just need to get all the coding done first to make the website pretty. I suppose that'll be done sometime.

Chemistry project yesterday and again today, I hope it turns out good. I'm not going to post any details about it, but I think it's pretty cool so far.

Oh, I went to Monica's house on... Friday and we spent lotsa time jumping on her trampoline; amazing fun. I haven't jumped on a trampoline in too long. Then we all had a cheese craving and went out to dominics... fun stuff.

That's about all for now, maybe I'll start updating more often? You'll have to come back to see....

Michigan Trip

Here are a few pictures from my trip to visit my brother at Michigan Tech this past weekend, they're kinda in reverse order, so I don't know how you want to look at them.

I thought I'd dump alot of pictures here, seeing as I haven't updated in a while.

Michigan Tech campus is really freakin beautiful.

This is a shrine that we visited alongside the road -- you can see my dad underneath the statue, that thing was huge.

We gave him this hat to replace the other one that he lost -- birthday present.

This is the actual spot where Matt goes swimming...

Out for a morning walk -- this is around the place that Matt goes swimming in the portage every once in a while.

Boat tour that we took, that ended up lasting 2 hours.

Lift bridge in Houghton

Michigan Tech campus -- you can barely see the yellow chairlift on the ski hill that the college owns.

This was the campsite that we spent the nights at ($90 cheaper than a hotel...).

I supposedly look cute in this picture.

Another shot of Chutes and Ladders

This was in the basement of Matt's new church in Michigan, I love that place.

Chutes and Ladders, the most kick-ass park I've ever been to.

Fedora

So it's been a REALLY long time since the last post... I don't even know, I didn't look... but I think it's been like a month or so.

Yeah, so I'm downloading Fedora right now, I think my computer hates me for it; I decided to download all 5 cds at the same time... from different places, of course, but the internet is kind of slow for me right now.

Yesterday I picked up a new wireless mouse, a Microsoft something something Cobolt, it's damn sexy and the roller thing is smooth like a baby butt. I was looking for a wireless keyboard too, but they're all weird and ikky, so maybe i'll get one later. I'm looking for one of those shallow-keyed ones with the sexy styling... and maybe it lights up.

That's really all I have to say... uhh, this past weekend I had a party, it was pretty pimpin', but everyone keeps calling it an anti-ashley or something like that party, and that's soo not what I'm about. So, to answer EVERYONE's questions, it was merely a party. No statement of evil.

... so yeah, that party reminded me that I really need to hang out with DJ... err Dave more. He's underrated by other people. Blerg.

[licks John's shaved legs] Well, that's about it. Really this time.

Chucky...

So, Colleen yelled at me because I don't post much anymore... but whatever. Tonight was fun, I went over to Colleen's house and hung out for a bit, I helped her burn a CD, then we went out... originally to Cinemark, but then we didn't get there early enough to watch a movie and get her back home in time, so we just ended up going to Steak 'n Shake, and sitting there for an hour. It was nice to talk to her, we've been really detached the whole summer... I've always been out of town. Too bad we didn't have time to get together for her to teach me how to read music and for me to give her voice lessons... :P Oh well.

Caveing this weekend, that should be fun... Leaving Friday morning, coming back Sunday night. Then, Matt's having a barbeque I think Monday night, if he ever gets it planned. Wednesday morning I leave again with the family to head up to Michigan Tech (UP) and take a small vacation slash move Matt in at school, it should be interesting. Drive back and get home Sunday night, I start school on Monday. Uggghhh. Oh well, at least I get to see all the people again... wooo.

I'm anxious to see my schedule... I hope I have classes with good people next year... Registration is this Monday (right when I get back from Caveing) and I'll get my schedule then. Bllllaaaahhhahghghghhh.

So that's about it for now.

Father Riva...

So I just got back from summer camp, it was amazing. I'll explain more to anyone that asks eventually...

I got this in a forward today, pretty cooolllll:

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next, Earth is
catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest
approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars
may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on
Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has
not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as
long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within
34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest
object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will
appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification.

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye . Mars will be
easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at
10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at
nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's
pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in
recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see
Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

So let go... let go...

Yeah, so I was selected to be a Froshfest games leader... pretty cool.

Out for the week next week, leaving Sunday morning (packing tomorrow) and coming back Saturday night. Going somewhere in Indiana for summercamp... so yeah.

Wwwww wwait!

So the mission trip, most amazing thing ever. I'm totally stoked about doing it again next year, but I really miss all the people that I met and made friends with over the week. I never thought I could get so close to a group of people in that short of time... but I did. Well, maybe I'll talk more later. Here are the pictures I took, more later when the rest of my group gets their pictures up online...

I'm making a triangle...

... between Motorcycle Drive By, Narcolepsy, and Burning Man. Who's in the middle?

"I've never been so alone... and I've never been so alive." So anyways, I just got back from an awesome trip. We left on Friday at 5:30 pm, and drove to Danville, IL... set up camp and got eaten by mosquitoes that night, then went to sleep. The next day, we set out for a 12-mile canoe trip (supposed to be 14-miles, but the length of river that we were planning to go on was low, so we did this instead). Finished that and came back to camp, to an awesome meal of Texas Toast 'n spaghetti, but it poured right before we could serve it. So we stood there getting soaked (hehe, still in bathing suit... quite fun) for 20-25 minutes, and then ate. Pretty amazing food. Then I passed out in bed, woke up the next day to go to mass, and then just a few people (including me, of course) decided to not wimp out and go for another day of canoeing/kayaking (odd number of people) as we had planned. The rest of the wimps went home early. We did 8 miles that day (yesterday, Sunday) and then drove home. Fun times in the car... hehe, with the Triangle game, staring at cars, sleeping... mmmm. Sexy. So that was about it, got home at 9:00 pm.

Yeah, so Wilson is probably going to come over tomorrow, along with Dave and Tyler (who I haven't invited yet...) to watch some Pulp Fiction and etc. Should be fun. Especially since we're going to move up a couch from the garage that we picked up on Friday.

Hmm... this week... I have to get out to Tweeter sometime, get a replacement midrange speaker... oh, get a new battery for the N64 memory card... uhh... work on Wednesday... oh, my FM transmitter (link) gets here Wednesday around 4:30 pm. That's it.
